Privacy and data use

Your API key

Your OpenAI API key is held only in the memory of the browser tab where you enter it. It is not written to local storage, cookies, analytics, this website’s database, or server logs by the tool. Closing or reloading the tab clears it.

When you validate the key or use an optional AI feature, the key is sent over HTTPS to a same-origin server route and then to OpenAI only for that request. The route does not retain it. Other visitors have separate browser sessions and cannot access your key through this tool.

Study data

Imported questions, progress, flags, filters, and saved selections stay in your browser’s local storage. They are not synchronized to an account or stored in this website’s database. Anyone with access to your browser profile may be able to view that local study data.

AI requests

Text needed for speech, grading, or word lookup is sent to OpenAI when you choose those features. OpenAI’s own terms and privacy policies apply to that processing. Device speech does not require an OpenAI API key.

Your choices

You can use authored grading and available device voices without a key, clear the key at any time, export a backup, or clear this site’s browser storage to remove locally saved study data.
